The Transcendent Triangle

Christmas eve, time to celebrate moment the birth of Jesus, the Messiah - and in every Christmas we see pine tree as the symbolization of Christmas joy. But, nowadays Christmas tree has been changed by various materials. There are some Christmas tree made by young coconut leaf, and also Batik fabric. All of those "Christmas tree" have a similarity - they have the triangle shape. Conical to the top - pointing to The One - God

Triangle is a transcendental shape - it related to things that indescribeable by human beings - again, God. In mathematics, transcendent also known as a infinity number, symbolized by π -  Phi. A long time ago, Archimedes found a way to calculate circle area - He cut a circle into a lot of triangles until he got the number of π - 22/7 or 3,14. Pine tree, Christmas tree, and triangle is a transcendental form - alluding to the power beyond human consciousness - to the greatness of The One.

I hope in this Christmas we can really feel the joy - we can feel the happiness indeed - not to stuck with the symbol and trapped in to the rituals controvertion.

Natal, Cemara dan Transenden

Pohon cemara sering sekali digunakan sebagai tanda perayaan Natal. Akan tetapi belakangan ini banyak gereja yang sudah tidak lagi menggunakan pohon cemara sebagai pohon Natal. Pohon Cemara mulai digantikan dengan berbagai hiasan mulai dari janur, sampai batik. Satu hal yang selalu sama, bentuknya segitiga, mengerucut ke atasnya. Mengerucut ke atas, menuju Yang Maha Pengasih.

 Segitiga adalah bentuk transenden - berkaitan dengan hal yang tak terjelaskan oleh manusia - Tuhan. Transenden juga digunakan dalam istilah matematika merujuk pada bilangan tak terhingga. Kita mengenalnya dengan 3,14 - phi - 22/7. Archimedes menemukan cara untuk menghitung luas lingkaran. Ia memotong sebuah lingkaran menjadi banyak sekali bentuk segitiga yang alasnya berbentuk busur panah.

Pohon Cemara, pohon Natal, segitiga adalah bentuk transenden yang merujuk pada Kemahabesaran Tuhan. Semoga Natal ini bisa dimaknai lebih dari sekadar perayaan dengan berbagai simbolnya, rasakan Natal, hayati kebesarannya.
